Countdown Timer Settings

On the Delphinium page, in Teacher or Periscope View, click the Settings icon in the top right corner of the page

The "Settings" dialog will open.

Click the Components tab in the tab bar at the top of the Settings dialog. 

The “Component Settings” tab will be displayed. 

You will see your course navigation tabs mirrored in the "secondary tab bar". You may need to click the correct tab in the secondary tab bar to display the icon for the Box Content Map component you wish to edit.

"Component tiles" also includes a "Find Me" button—mouse over the Find Me button to make the tools menu transparent and outline the "component" for that "tile" in yellow. You can use these features to ensure that you are editing the correct settings for your target component.

Click the Countdown tile. 

The “Countdown Settings” dialog will display. 

Select an End date

The "Countdown Timer" can be configured to use a variety of different end dates to count down to, including:

• Delphinium - the Delphinium course "End Date" configured in the Delphinium course settings.

• Grading periods - The end date of the currently displayed grading period, as configured in the Delphinium course settings (by default this is the grading period end date configured in Canvas, but users can override this setting in Delphinium course settings).

• Section - This will count down to the end date assigned to the section that a specific student is assigned to. If a student is assigned multiple sections, then the date for the first section reported by the Canvas data API will be used. If no section is found, then the Delphinium end date will be used.

• Enrollment - This option only applies if the Canvas API was used to assign an end date to a specific student's enrollment record for a course. If no enrollment end date is found, then the Delphinium end date will be used.

• Custom - Users can manually select an end date for the Countdown timer to count to.

Other Settings

• Orientation - Indicate whether the circles of the countdown timer will be displayed vertically or horizontally.

• End date offset - Count down to a manually configured number of days before the selected end date. For example, you could count down to 3 days before the last day of class to indicate the last day that homework will be accepted.

• Custom tool tip message - Override the default count down timer tooltip with custom text, this is especially useful if you are using the custom end date.

Note: You can use the Delphinium layout editor to add multiple count down timers to a course and give them each a different end date.
