Course Stats
"Course Stats" is a dynamic component that changes views depending on whether or not the "Milestone Tracker" is also in a course.
If "Milestone Tracker" IS in the course, "Course Stats" displays four horizontal data bars
If "Milestone Tracker" is NOT in a course, "Course Stats" displays one circular data bar
"Course Stats" helps students understand the quality of the work they are producing in the course. When their work quality is trending downwards, they can make corrections to improve their performance.
"Course Stats" displays data for all completed assignments, or for the most recent 10 completed assignments so that students can see if their latest work is trending in the right direction or not. This can provide some encouragement and hope for students who get a rough start in the class but start improving their grade.
Note: In a 0-based course, "Course Stats" displays roughly the same information as a traditional grade in a %-based course. Sometimes students in a 0-based course would like to know what their grade would be if the trading was more traditional. This component answers that question. In a traditional %-based course, "Course Stats" in "all assignments" mode displays the actual % grade in the class.
Circle Display Description
Note: "Course Stats" has two displays, depending on whether or not "Milestone Tracker" in also in the Delphinium layout. The "Circle" display is used if "Milestone Tracker" is NOT in the layout.
% of points earned
Percent of points earned is a measure o the quality of a student's work
It is computed as points earned divided by points attempted
In a 0-based course this value is roughly the same as the % score in a traditional course
In a %-based course this value is the % score for a course
If a student continues to perform with the same quality of work, this score can roughly predict their final grade
Students can improve their % of points earned score by earning more points on each assignment
You can toggle between computing the % of points earned score from ALL submitted assignments or just the last 10 submitted assignments
Looking at just the last 10 assignments can help students understand how they are doing on more recent assignments and can provide some encouragement for students whose early scores were poor

Red-line gap
Indicates how far ahead or behind the redline point value displayed in the "Milestone Tracker" a student currently is
Students need to stay ahead of the redline when it crosses milestones to limit or avoid penalty points
Locked Penalty/Bonus balance
Sum of all locked in bonus and penalty points generated by the "Milestone Tracker"
Potential penalty/bonus points remaining
Potential penalty accrues when students fall behind the red line in the "Milestone Tracker"
Potential bonus exists at the beginning of the course and decreases as time passes
Potential penalty and bonus is converted to locked-in penalty and bonus when students cross milestones
